Background: The International Association for Solidarity (SHIS) is an Albanian ONG founded in 1998 and officially recognized by Tirana’s Court of Justice through decision no. 2514 on 24th June 1998. Its mission is to promote and implement development educational programs in harmony with local and national policies. SHIS is specialized in implementing educational development projects related with local and central education institutions empowerment, educative staff capacity building, women entrepreneurship, awareness raising for parents and communities, prevention of school drop-out for most in risk children, implementing of the school as e communities centre approach, research, and social services.
SHIS is seeking for a Social Animator who will work within the “Little Prince” daily centre in area of Kombinat. The Social Animator works with people to support them through difficult times and ensure that vulnerable people, including children and adults are safeguarded from harm. Their role is to organize and deliver Psychological Support (PSS) activities the children enrolled at the schools supported by “Little Prince” daily centre. They maintain professional relationships with beneficiaries, acting as guides and advocates.
Duties/responsibilities
• Will carry out educational activities in order to prevent the school dropout for children for age 6-18 years who frequent the daily centre “Little Prince” in Kombinat;
• Support the families of the children who frequent the centre, with an empowering approach through the implementation of the individual plan of intervention for the family, while continuously counselling them based on the specific needs;
• Fill the social file and integrate all related information on the system after family visits
• Accompany beneficiaries during recreational activities
• Ensure proper follow up on all actions to be considered for individual cases till achieving desired results
• Report to the management supervisor of “Little Prince” the critical cases for further action.
• Prepare progress monthly reports for each beneficiary and on activities implemented
• Assess, plan and implement activities in coordination with management supervisor of “Little Prince”.
• Collaborate with school principals to achieve project activities
• Refer traumatized cases to a psychologist/speech therapist for counseling and assistance.
• Collaborate with teachers for monitoring of students’ academic progress, psychosocial wellbeing and development through the year and assess the impact of support provided
• Carry out educational activities within schools and daily “Little Prince” centre.
• Conduct awareness sessions on non-discrimination, acceptance of difference.
• Keep file of incidents of discrimination reported by students, teachers, or parents
• Refer beneficiaries to relevant service when needed.
• Organize PSS sessions for the children according to their needs
• Participate in training, conferences and attend meetings with key stakeholders.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
• 1 to 5 years relevant experience
• Experience working with children, teachers, and other groups
• Experience in working with vulnerable groups is a plus
• A bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences preferable with Psychological or Social Worker background.

• Previous work experiences with NGOs and civil society projects.
Salary: Commensurate with experience
